Introduction

I have a personal story that I lived and live today with the computer world, starting in 1969 while reading an advertisement  of programming course “Electronic Brain”, 360 Cobol language for IBM machines! This ad was in the paper the Sports Gazette, I thought it was interesting because it was the electronic science that would offer more opportunities in the near future. Thus did enrollment in that course, I think the school was called SUCCESS, until recently still had the certificate of course completion schedule, if one may call the training offered.

Chapter I – COURSE PROGRAM COBOL 360

I will be direct and let wariness aside, so start narrating participation in class and it was nice to receive a small slit in a green tone and modern and more to the “psychedelic” contrasting the traditional rulers of the usual time, in acrylic and dull none. Was a ruler to make the flow of programs with sign printing, decision, event, etc. … I thought it the most, and so I was progressing on the course and knowledge acquired and absorbed. That lasted a month, every night going to the city center where the school was located. At the end of the course I got a brilliant and revolutionary conclusion, which will be subject to the completion of this first part of the interview, getting to be exposed in the next post serving as a bridge to Chapter II.

Chapter II – FINISHING THE COURSE AND A SMART CONCLUSION

You wonder what it is doing a programming course in 1969? If not, do the testimony, it was like talking to a ET torque was the way to talk and to this day is still with the “electronic brain”, so the computer was called in its implementation, but soon moved to computer!

Now, going down to the end of the course, and after doing my first program, which was the result of a series of punch cards, sports lottery type of game this early printed work on paper flaky, full of little holes on the sides and it was pulled by the printer, I had a feeling of frustration, due to having to be pulling with your fingers / nails the squares of card programming, ie, an operation entirely outside the technological context presented.

So how visionary and possessed of a brilliant mind, concludes: – Please do not laugh at me – BUSINESS THAT HAS NNNOOOO FUTURE! That cockiness! Or my idiocy!

Here ends the chapter II and go to the third see how this unfolds, and my skepticism with electronics and computer!
